When this process started on January 14, 2024, 26 months ago, your PSC had a handful of meetings with you as our church. You asked us to find a man who loves the Lord and His Word. You asked us to find an experienced pastor who preached the Word of God with integrity and application. You asked us to find someone with leadership experience and God-shaped vision. You asked us to find a man who was passionate about ministry, about discipleship, about missions and taking the gospel message across the street to our neighbors and around the world. We believe the Lord led us to this man!

 

After hearing some incredible sermons from many men across the country, the Spirit continued to guide our hearts to listen more and more to this man. We firmly believe his background and experience have uniquely prepared him to shepherd and care for our church, First Baptist Church Winnsboro. We have found that this man leads by example; he leads his own family well. He is a man with high integrity who strives for personal holiness and who welcomes accountability. I can tell you this morning that our entire seven-member search committee is 100% unified in our decision to present Pastor Tom Wilson to you in view of a call on March 29, 2026.

Thank you for praying for us, for trusting these past two years, and for being patient with us in this process.

 

We now ask that you pray for Tom and his family. Please pray for his current church staff, for their congregation and for their friends, as we know there will be some difficult goodbyes for them. They are extremely well-loved where they are, and they love their church. But, we all believe God, in His time and in His way, is calling Tom here to us, and he is obediently following God’s leadership. We believe that we must be sensitive to how this makes his current church feel, because they are our brothers and sisters in Christ, and when we vote to call him as our next pastor on April 5, it will be a time of great celebration for us, but for them it will be a time of grieving.

 

This morning, we have a brief biography of Pastor Tom so that you may get to know more about him and about his family, about his experience and his teaching. On the flip side we also have information about the events planned for the weekend of March 27–29 as well as the voting process on April 5.

 

We hope that you will make it a priority to participate in every opportunity you have to engage in this process.

 

On Sunday, March 29, Pastor Tom will preach in view of a call. That afternoon from 3–5, there will be a Q & A in the sanctuary and from 5–6:30 there will be an ice cream social in the fellowship hall. Per our Operational Handbook, there will be a special called business meeting after the service on April 5 to vote to call Pastor Tom Wilson to FBC Winnsboro.

 

Please continue to pray that God’s perfect will be done for our church and for the Wilson's current church and that all of us will obey the Lord’s leading through this process. We are very excited and very thankful to the Lord for His faithfulness and provision. Thank you.
