Community Ministries

FBC BENEVOLENCE MINISTRY:  residents of Winnsboro in financial need can come to the Office of First Baptist Church on Tuesdays from 9am -12noon to speak with a Benevolence worker.  The worker can assist in applying for the kind of help for which they are eligible.  Everyone coming in for Benevolence assistance will also speak with an Encourager and will also receive financial coaching as part of ministering to the total person.

Second-chance Employers.  If you would like to be on a list of employers willing to provide a second chance for those who need another opportunity for honest, hard work, click here. Employers must be willing to develop those who have had a weak work ethic and/or poor employment track record.

Spiritual and Financial Encourager.  If you would like training and an opportunity to serve as a spiritual or financial encourager on a rotation of Tuesdays, click here.

Physical Needs:  Current, unmet physical needs for residents of Winnsboro who have received benevolence assistance since 2015 include:

- Used or new 110 Volt Electric Kitchen Stove/Range. It seems 110V stoves are no longer made. But if you have one you would like to sell, click here.


Salvation Army:  those needing assistance with bills unable to be addressed by the FBC Benevolence ministry can seek help from the Salvation Army.  Ask for David Rose at FBC during office hours M - Th 9am - 12noon; 1-5pm.

Winnsboro Community Resource Center:  the center provides groceries and encouragement and resources to help families through difficult times. Tuesdays and Thursdays 10am-2pm

Workforce Solutions:  offers workforce solutions to East Texas residents.  Hours of operation are 9am-12 noon and 1pm - 4pm.  Mondays - Fridays.

Greater East Texas Community Action.  Several programs are available to help Wood County families, such at home Weatherization services, literacy programs, Energy Assistance and Emergency Assistance needs.  Click here for the GETCA website.

East Texas Crisis Center.  Providing safety, shelter, and education for victims of family violence, sexual assault, and other violent crime. Winnsboro Office Hours are 8am - 5pm Monday through Friday. Services include:  crisis intervention, safety planning, support groups, peer counseling, shelter, women's economic program, community resources & information, financial assistance, legal advocasy, and the East Texas Crisis Center HEART (help end abusive relationship tendencies) Support Group in Winnsboro held every Tuesday from 1-2pm.
